There are essentially 3 types of antifreeze:

1. Automotive

  • For use in automotive applications — not for heavy-duty diesel truck or “wet sleeve” applications.

2. Heavy Duty

  • Can be used as a base for heavy-duty diesel applications as long as the proper Supplemental Coolant Additives (SCA’s) are added to the antifreeze.
  • Heavy Duty antifreeze may state that it is suitable for heavy duty applications, but you need to read the fine print, as it will not adequately protect a “wet-sleeved” engine from cavitation and pitting unless the appropriate SCA’s are added to the antifreeze.   Be sure to read the label of the product you are using in your trucks.

3. Heavy Duty Pre-charged

  • “Pre-Charged” or “fully formulated” Heavy Duty antifreeze is ready for use and has the formulation (Supplemental Coolant Additives – SCA’s) to adequately protect “wet-sleeved” OEM diesel engines.
  • If you have a mixed fleet, you should know that heavy-duty and pre-charged heavy-duty antifreeze is also compatible for use in automotive applications.
  • All of FulFleet’s Heavy Duty Antifreeze is “fully formulated / pre-charged”.
